Following her well-publicized double mastectomy, actress Angelina Jolie has now detailed the removal of her ovaries.
Writing for the New York Times, Jolie says she decided to undergo the preventative surgery after doctors found a small benign tumor on one of her ovaries
The surgery, a laparoscopic bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, removed both Jolie's fallopian tubes and her ovaries. Although, she had planned to undertake the surgery eventually, the actual date came sooner than Jolie expected. After taking a test for ovarian cancer, an irregular result came back.
